The Palace Hotel
San Francisco, CA - While waiting for more Hotel staff to join us in the lobby, Jane encountered the first spirit of the tour in the hallway outside of the restrooms. Her stomach expanded until we moved from the area. After the group assembled, we headed into the bar.
As Jane walked behind the wooden counter in the bar area, her stomach went out.
JANE: It happened in this area; this seating area. This was a staging area-an open area. I see a coach accident-horses were surprised and reared up, the coach turned on its side. Someone died-a woman named "Jean". Walking further towards the end of the room-JANE: I'm seeing ladies in large gowns with parasols. There was a fight in this area; it ended up with a killing. The grip is very strong-very male.
Jane turns with a surprised look on her face-feeling. JANE: Has Marilyn Monroe stayed here? I can feel that Marilyn's spirit has visited here.

Jane turns with a surprised look on her face-feeling. JANE: Has Marilyn Monroe stayed here? I can feel that Marilyn's spirit has visited here. As Jane walks towards the far wall, her stomach expands; the 'feelings' are sad. JANE: I'm picking up energy, images of movies being filmed here. Also, performances, maybe opera too (male energy). Hotel staff: the usage has remained about the same-restaurant, lounge, and place where people gather.
(Ralston Room? usage similar to the Garden Area) JANE: A spirit just passed through me. I'm getting chills-never gotten a feeling like this before---it's George Burns!! He's joking and getting a big kick out of this. It's shocking to me because it's like I'm watching him on TV. He's here because he visits a lot. Walking around the room, JANE: Also, people died here in this same area, in a different time era; things falling-a group died-probably because of the earthquake.

Jane walked through most of the area without incident. As she walked towards the back-JANE: I'm getting something here-was this an open area? Hotel staff: No, this was a service area. We walked into another Ball Room and into a large storage area. JANE: Workers died here. Your present workers should be experiencing something. Have they mentioned to anyone "encountering or observing things"? JANE: There's a lot of activity here-it's like a spirit is following his counterpart around while he's doing the job. Jane stopped in front of an office-JANE: My stomach is sticking out. If someone from here is not visiting you now, they will be soon. (We later found out that Danny had died a short time ago.)
After walking up stairs and through a hallway, the Hotel staff let Jane walk ahead down another hallway. Jane stops and takes a step backward. JANE: Creepy, very heavy energy-someone was murdered here-someone ran down the hall trying to get away-this was a crime. I wouldn't like to be alone here. I'm feeling the emotions of a scuffle, murder, and someone getting away. If your staff was alone here at night, they'd feel like the spirit was breathing down their neck---very creepy. Not a place that I'd want to go into or stay. Turning around and we turn the corner to go down another hallway. JANE: I'm seeing many characters and getting a lot of feelings. I feel a "Mae West" bustling kind of walk. Was there a bordello in this area? A woman is leading a pack of women. There's a man, very dressed up-a suit with a derby hat. He's a very prominent man. He's with the women; he's choosing who in the bordello he'd like to be with. He's very proud; he wants me to see him. In his day, if he was found out, it would be a scandal-quite a scandal. Walking up more stairs we end at a hallway on the 2nd floor. We walk down the hallway past rooms numbered 285 & 286.
As Jane walks inside the suite, her stomach expands. As she walks around the area, her stomach is out the whole time. JANE: Any historical meetings here? I'm picking up some major decisions for the US-diplomats, foreign visitors.

Walking into this new area, Jane's stomach reacts. JANE: My stomach went out again; I feel that someone is going in and out of all these rooms-very playfully. This person is making a conscious decision to visit people in their sleep. We continue walking past more rooms-246 & 241. JANE: This would be a fun place to stay. Continuing to walk past more rooms--233 to the State Suite. JANE: Someone (a male) died here of a heart attack-a name… Arthur.
Continuing on the 2nd floor, we walk past the Mendocino Room into the French Parlor. JANE: I getting balls and waltzing. Walking into a room that overlooks the Garden Court Room. Just as Jane begins to walk into the room-JANE: My stomach is out. This is a concentrated area. I see ball gowns & ladies with names-Lillian, Vivian & Pricilla. Staff or guests should have gotten a glimpse of someone or heard footsteps. There's a lot of activity here. Hotel staff: The usage here was a ladies room. In olden times, the hotel was separated into the mens side and the ladies side.

Hotel staff: All this area was rooms at one time. Also, during the time of 1909 to 1989, this area was occupied by an engineering company. As Jane passed the Pacific Height and approached the columns near the middle, her stomach went out. JANE: I'm picking up that a spirit was watching the owner make plans. The spirit liked being around him. I'm picking up a name 'Alfred'-he doesn't look modern, maybe he's in a 20s or 30s era suit. JANE: I'm picking up newspaper or reporting events. Hotel staff: this is the area where KCBS news station did the morning broadcasting for years. JANE: I would expect that overall in the Hotel, staff have quit because of encounters and events. Walking again, then into the elevator, we stop at the 8th floor and pass rooms 880 - 883.
Hotel Staff: you're looking into the bedroom where Harding may have died. JANE: It feels like he tried to get up off the bed and fell on the floor. I can see him gasping and grabbing his throat. He clearly was not clutching his chest. There was no pain; but, he ate or drank something before he got ill. Hotel staff: They didn't move him and it took three days for him to die. JANE: I'm seeing many women. There was definitely poison in his drink or food; a woman did it-it's what he's telling me. It was a very angry woman. It may have been a group and it was definitely 'Planned'. He was quite a womanizer. He's giving me clear pictures. Who was the VP for Harding? Who followed him? JANE: He's telling me "They should have taken me for help and not tried to covered up the secrets". It was a conspiracy between his wife and someone in his cabinet. He was killed because of the 'secrets' and he was quite a womanizer. Two names come to mind-Katherine & Josephine. He had vices-gambling and money problems. Harding doesn't know for sure who killed him. We leave the Presidential Room and head to a lower floor via the elevator and stairways.
After walking down more hallways and through another door, we enter a very large storage area. We walk down some wooden stairs. JANE: My stomach is out and there's energy all through me. It's very eerie. Hotel staff: The area over there was Blum's Ice Cream Parlor. JANE: Look at all these antiques; many antiques have spirits attached to them. I can feel the heaviness-A LOT; an expanded sense of myself. This seems like a bigger dimension. If I spent the night here, I wouldn't sleep-just listen and wait. Here I would start to see and hear things. It's such a "Expanded" dimension.

JANE: My stomach went out; there's activity by the freezer and corner; an employee died. More walking
JANE: This is creepy; my stomach went out. What I'm feeling seems attached to the other side of the wall-'man of color'. Hotel staff: The other side of the wall is Market Street. JANE: It's almost as though the person is coming in and hiding. We walk down halls and pass the laundry room. LARGE STORAGE AREA-Large wire cage compartments that are gated and locked. JANE: My stomach is out. There are unsettled spirits here, so make sure staff always carries keys. So, no one gets locked in. Hotel staff: Yes, the Stewards won't come down here any more. Up an elevator & more walking
Past 504,505 to 518. JANE: My stomach is out. You must get complaints about the noise: chains and metal banging. There is very heavy energy here; it must be felt in several rooms. The spirit feels as though he owns the area and he resents anyone here. He personalizes his actions. We finished up and made our way back to the main lobby. JANE: What does the Hotel do if a guest complains about noises, etc? Hotel Staff: We change their room and make them comfortable.
Aloha Airline staff have asked that they not be housed on the 4th Floor because of incidents. The three streets that border the hotel were named after prostitutes: Clementine, Jesse, and Annie. The hotel did not allow prostitutes, but it is known that they were snuck in the back door. Rm. 526-the maids always find that the bed has been sat on-they are sure that it is a spirit. Rm. 538-There's been a sighting of the spirit of Mrs. S… who lived here until she was 104 years old. She was involved in an elevator accident here in the hotel when she was 60. Part of the settlement included the room rent free for her life. It also included rooms for her attending doctor and nurse. Her doctors kept her alive for family business and fortune reasons. She died in the late 70s or 80s.
